Visitors who are cruising along the Cape Fear coastline from Oak Island to Southport can enjoy a fully satisfying break from the car with a visit to Fat Andy’s Burgers. Located in a tiny but tasteful coastal shack along Long Beach Rd, this ultra-casual but highly acclaimed burger joint has everything fast food fans crave to continue an adventure along southern North Carolina.
Fat Andy’s Burgers is a small eatery, and is found in a 1920s-style coastal home on the edge of the highway, but the flavors are big and filling, and there’s casual outdoor seating for patrons who want to sit down and feast. The menu is just as simple, with a limited number of items including burgers, dogs, and fries, but all of the fare available is consistently done well. Patrons can dive into a burger, cheeseburger, or Triple D Double burger with all the fixins, including mustard, onions, and chili, and can top it off with a hefty order of chili cheese fries with jalapenos, or regular French fries – which are both fresh cut. Although daily specials may be available outside the burger and hot dog realm, like crab cake sandwiches, the burgers are the star of the show, and are what keep patrons coming back for more.
