Our top Rental home booking tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Sunset Beach. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your search:

  • Start by having your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. 1st Floor 2 BR Villa - Beautiful Views - (CV24B) has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Southport attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
