Vacation rental tips:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Southport attractions.
- In the Southport area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick yourrental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. A Little Shore Thing- 1 Bed Oceanfront Condo has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. - Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
