Finding the best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies supply Southport area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best rental home:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Beach Home sleeps up to 8, ocean and intercoastal views has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
