How to book the best Southport vacation property experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Southport area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Southport area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Breezy Oaks: Oceanfront Home with Chef's Kitchen and Child-friendly Amenities has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
