Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Southport attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Southport area:

  • Begin by selecting trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Charming NEW 3-BR Bungalow in Historic Downtown Wilmington…Quiet & Walkable! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
