Tips to get the optimal Southport rental experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Southport restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing and booking the right Southport rental:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • New-Build
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

During your stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
