How to book the best Oak Island vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Oak Island. Booking your Southport vacation rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Southport area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. MiKeyToParadise & Oak Island has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is suitable for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's an individual Southport attraction you crave, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
