When you enter the property, you make your way through the cozy living area with hearty wood floors and whitewashed walls. As you make your way towards the kitchen, you pass the Queen bedroom and Full bedroom. There is also a Twin daybed. There is access to the main floor bathroom with a charmingly tiled stand-up shower from the hallway. The kitchen has all the essentials including a enormous utility sink to prepare dinner for family or friends. Once dinner is prepared, there is a massive dining table to eat and socialize around.

On the upper level, you will find the primary bedroom with a King bed and en suite bathroom. The primary bedroom is roomy with pretty ocean vistas. In the primary bathroom, you will find a clawfoot tub that is ideal for soaking in on a calming evening.

The ground floor homes the laundry facility as well as another full bathroom. The closest beach access is Oyster Shell Public access across the street.

Don't miss a spectacular sunrise, the excellent donuts at Britt's, watching for playful dolphins, Thursday nighttime fireworks on the beach or the Farmer's Market at the Lake. You'll want to immerse yourself in the myriad of activities offered on Pleasure Island. If it rains, head down south the the Fort Fisher Aquarium, or check out the historical site. Strategies to get the very best Southport rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Southport area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer months are high season in Carolina Beach. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Darling 1930s cottage across from ocean! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a specific Southport attraction you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
