Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking yourrental home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Updated ground-level 3 BR\/2 BA condo beside pool. Golf, Tennis, and family fun. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
