Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Get the most from your budget:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Southport restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Havana's Moon at Ocean Isle Beach, Custom Home with private pool, great location has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
