Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
Find your perfect rental:
- Summertime is high season in Carolina Beach. Reserve your Southport vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose yourrental:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. New Listing - High end home with private heated pool and spa, dog friendly has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Southport destination you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
