Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Southport area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting and booking your prefect Southport rental home:

  • Start by having your group select date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. It Depends: Beach Cottage Overlooking Davis Canal has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's an individual Southport attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
