Our top Southport rental booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Wrightsville Beach. To find the largest rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Southport restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick the rightrental home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Comfortable oceanfront condo in Wrightsville Dunes has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. text the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
