How to get the best Wilmington vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- In the Southport area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in Wilmington. Booking your Southport vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Southport area:
- Choose your vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Modern 1BR apartment in the heart of historic downtown Wilmington, NC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
