Our top Oak Island vacation rental home tips:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Southport area:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Nemo's Place: 2 Single Kayaks, 5 Bicycles and Room for Outdoor Entertaining has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. text the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
