Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Southport area. To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Southport attractions.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront condo - Direct beach access with pool - Amazing Views - Windjammer has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your invoice.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
