Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Southport area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Three Palms: Oceanview Condo with community pool and grilling areas has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
  • If there's a specific Southport attraction you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
