Rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • To get the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect rental home in the Southport area:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Cape Fear’s Original 1908 Historic Getaway has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
