How to book the best Southport rental home experience:

When to reserve a Southport rental home & When to go:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer months are high season in Oak Island. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking the rightrental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Smart Pelican: Dog-Friendly Oceanfront Cottage with Modern Kitchen has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
