Tricks and tips to get the best Southport rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Southport area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Selecting and booking the right Southport vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Spacious 6-bedroom ocean view home, 1 minute walk to beach! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
