Our top Vacation rental tips:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Oak Island. To get the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your family choose trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Spacious Beach Home with a Private Pool. Seain' is Believin' has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
