Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your Southport vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Submariner, 5 Bedroom- New Build, Second Row w\/ Private pool & Elevator has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
