Oak Island is a low-key place to relax and appreciate time away from the hustle and bustle. The neighborhood is peaceful, and just three blocks to direct beach access. Most of the homes in the area are full-time residents, and everybody here is very welcoming and friendly!

We are just 15 min. drive from historic Southport, where "Safe Haven" and other films were based.

There are multiple ocean-front eateries on the island, and plenty to do, including golf, putt-putt & arcade, skydiving, and more. Go shopping or drop your boat in for a day of fishing at one of the boat launches on the island.

Walking or cycling is a great way to get fresh air and a little exercise at the same time. There are tons of eateries, stores and shopping within a 5-8 min. walk. If you want to discover a little further, driving works well, or call a taxi or an Uber on the island.

When to go & When to reserve a Southport rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses.
