Tricks and tips to get the optimal Southport vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer time is high season in the Southport area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Southport vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

How to choose and book your prefectrental:

  • To start, have your group commit to dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Sweet Sunshine: Lovely Rental with Pool and Elevator Built in 2021 has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Southport destination you simply love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
