Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Southport area. Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and picking the rightrental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. The Biedenbach Beach House….LOVELY Wrightsville Beach Island Vacation Getaway has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
  • If there's an individual Southport beach you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
