Vacation rental tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Southport area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Choosing the perfect rental home in Wrightsville Beach:
- Start by having your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Immaculate ocean front condo in Station One! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
