How to book the best Oak Island vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summertime is high season in the Southport area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sunshine Corner In-law suite, bikes, firepit, walk 2 Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a certain Southport attraction you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
