Tricks and tips to get the very best Southport vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations and attractions.

Finding the best rental:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Walk to Beach
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
