Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Summer is high season in Wilmington. To get the best value, try changing your family's Southport vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the best vacation home in Wilmington:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. walk to the cargo district - cozy casa at cargo has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
