Oak Island rental property booking tips and tricks:

Get the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Southport area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Oak Island:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. newly renovated~ quiet neighborhood- beach gear has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
