"A Great Escape" is a handsomely decorated 3 bedroom/3 full bathroom bungalow with a peaceful island location and accessories that are ideal for families.

A cavernous floor plan features open living/dining space with an assortment of books, videos, and board games. A den on the first floor with a sleeper couch and sliding barn door for privacy. A bright, cheerful sunroom is located off of the main living area and overlooks the maritime forest. Extensive front porch for those just wanting to sit and relax.

Access supplied to the Ibis Roost community pool, which can only be used by Ibis Roost families and their guests (30 homes) and is just a 1 min. walk away. About the Area

Located in Bald Head Island, this vacation home is near the beach. Bald Head Island Lighthouse and Old Brunswick County Jail Museum are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Kent Mitchell Nature Trail and The Clubs at St. James. North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport and Bald Head Island Information Center are also worth visiting. When to reserve a Southport rental home & When to go:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Southport area. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses.   • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

During your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
