Visitors throughout the Cape Fear area can easily embark on a paddling adventure thanks to the centrally located Hook, Line & Paddle. This convenient paddling destination features a wealth of rental equipment for riders of all ages and skill levels, ensuring that visitors will be just minutes away from getting out on the water and having some fun.
The shop is located almost exactly in between downtown Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach, which makes it just a few miles away from both destinations. The available rental equipment goes far beyond the basic boards, and visitors can pick up all the associated gear required to have a fun (and safe) time, including PFDs, whistles, and soft-racks for loading kayaks/SUPs onto your vehicle. Equipment can even be picked up at the shop’s drive-thru for extra convenience, and once patrons have everything they need, they can almost immediately embark on an on-the-water adventure at Wrightsville Beach, Trails End, Smith Creek Park, Downtown Riverfront, and Carolina Beach. (Free delivery is also available to residents and visitors at Figure Eight Island.) For a world of fun at your fingertips, Hook, Line & Paddle is standing by to show you how enjoyable the waters of Cape Fear can be.

The lower Cape Fear region was explored in the 1521 and again in 1526 by the Spanish. They chose to move on, due to poor soil and lack of adequate fresh water supplies.
The northernmost coastal region of Carolina Beach is home to the Freeman Park Recreation Area, a stretch of shoreline that is well known to adventurous, beach-loving 4WD truck owners. Unlike other stretches of the barrier islands off the coast of Wilmington, this park is special because it is completely undeveloped, and allows beach driving to off-roaders who like to cruise along the sand.
