How to get the best rental home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Sunset Beach. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Southport vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 051 Nells Nest East by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If there's an individual Southport destination you simply love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
