Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer is high season in the Southport area. Booking your Southport vacation rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Southport area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best vacation home in the Southport area:

  • First and foremost, have your group select dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 113 Prescription Pad by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Southport beach you crave, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
