Southport vacation rental tips:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer months are high season in the Southport area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • Choose your vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Allegra: Dog-Friendly Home with Modern Kitchen \/ Baths and Easy Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
