Tricks and tips to get the perfect Wilmington vacation rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer months are high season in Wilmington. To get the best rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group agree to trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Beautifully restored home in Wilmington Historic District with pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
