When to visit & When to reserve a Carolina Beach rental home:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Southport area. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.

  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback.
