Charming refreshed bungalow located just four blocks from downtown shopping and eateries (see map). You'll find an inviting, open concept living space ideal for calming with friends and family. Stroll or take the golf cart to the waterfront park bench swings where the Cape Fear meets the Atlantic Ocean, dine by the river, appreciate live music, spectacular sunsets, historic sites, and cozy stores. Explore the close by Oak Island beaches only a 15 min. drive away. Take a ferry to Bald Head Island or discover historic Wilmington.
End you day unwinding in the gazebo, play bocce, or watch a movie on the huge sectional with a comfortable fire. There are board games and 3 intelligent TVs to watch with your own accounts and a Victrola (BYO CDs). One bedroom has no TV.
At nighttime, curl up in one of three comfortable queen beds with hybrid beds and crisp cotton sheets. In the morning, savor your favorite coffee from the Keurig with a latte spinner. The kitchen has basic supplies and the bathroom is complete with blow dryer, towels, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. There is also a half bath off the primary bedroom and a modest washer/dryer.

Our top Southport vacation rental tips:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserve your Southport rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Southport area:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Downtown Sunshine Cottage & GolfCart has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
