Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to reserve a Southport rental & When to go:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Southport vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Blue Bungalow~Charming Carolina Place~Mins to Riverfront + UNCW~7 miles to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
