Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Southport vacation property experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Holden Beach. To find the most suitable vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Southport restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to pick the best rental:

  • Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Carolina Blue Skies is 2nd Row, Steps to the Beach, Ocean Views and New Construction has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
