Escape to Bald Head in our 3 bedroom / 2 bath condo located at Royal James on Bald Head Island. We are centrally located on the island with the maritime stores, lighthouse and South Beach less than a 2 min. golf cart ride. Our home does include 1- 4 passenger golf cart. We also have wifi to appreciate during your stay! Our master suite has a king bed, the guest bedroom has a king bed with bath and the upstairs sleeping loft has 2 queen beds. The loft is appreciated by the kiddos! Appreciate peaceful mornings and nights on our two balconies or twist by the community pool, which is included in your rental.

About the Area

Located in Bald Head Island, this condo is near the beach. Smith Island Museum of History and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include Bald Head Island Information Center and North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental home experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Southport area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
