Booking the best vacation property experience:

When to visit Wilmington & When to book:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer is high season in the Southport area. To get the largest rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Southport restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Finding the best rental home in the Southport area:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Downtown Wilmington home in the Historic District, near to Cape Fear River Walk has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Southport destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
