Strategies to get the very best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summertime is high season in the Southport area. Book your Southport rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and picking the rightvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Dog-friendly home with partial ocean view, decks, fast WiFi & private hot tub has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
  • If there's an individual Southport attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
