The roomy wooden dining table seats six, with seating for an additional four at the adjacent breakfast bar. The gleaming white kitchen remains warm and inviting thanks to under cabinet lighting and glass-fronted curio cabinets lit for display. This space is entirely outfitted with the essential kitchen tools you need to prepare meals during your stay, and the enormous walk-in pantry provides plenty of space for your groceries.
Beyond the kitchen, the aqua tones of sea glass invite you through to the master suite. Furnished with a king size bed and wall-mounted intelligent TV, this room also provides direct access to the screened porch overlooking the fenced backyard. The spa-like en suite bathroom features a pair of basin sinks, a padded bench and an striking step in shower with multiple heads and an enclosed soaking tub. The sizable walk-in closet also provides access to the laundry room.
The other two bedrooms on this level share access to a full bathroom with a standard tub/shower combo and hallway access. The middle bedroom provides a queen bed, while the front room is furnished with a twin bed and a twin trundle. This room also contains a wall-mounted intelligent TV for personal entertainment and a modest desk in case homework still needs attending to during your visit.
On the ground floor, the inviting lower level entrance leads you into a entry and the sheltered access for the home's private elevator. The final bedroom is furnished with a queen bed and is located on this level, along with an additional living space and huge kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator! Just off the entryway, the lounge room contains a round kitchen table that seats four as well as a couch and a large intelligent TV mounted over a second electric fireplace. The full bathroom provides a step-in shower.
Outside, a comfortable patio area under the home is located within the fenced backyard and is furnished with a sectional and dining-height table, along with additional bench seating. Food and drink prepared in the kitchenette can be conveniently delivered directly to this area via a pass-through window with a roll up metal shutter. A gas grille is included for your group's bar-b-que master, and the private hot tub is located in the grassy fenced backyard along with a firepit.
Above this space, you'll find a comfortable grouping of patio furnishings on the screened back deck, a protected perch where you can savor an evening beverage while keeping an eye on the kids playing below. The covered front porch offers a pair of classic rocking chairs and a shady respite where you can watch the world go by - on island time, of course! When you're ready to hit the beach, hop in your car for a fast drive over to the nearest public beach access. Our top Southport rental booking tips:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Oak Island. Book your Southport vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Southport area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick your prefectrental home:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Down By The Sea: Modern Coastal Home with Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If not, contact the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Southport attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your agreement.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
