Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:

Sticking to a spending budget:

  • To get the best value, change your family's Southport trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Southport area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing and booking the right Southport vacation home:

  • To start, have your group commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Family & Pet Friendly Beach Home - 2ND Row, Steps From The Beach has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, call the host before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
