Finding your best deal:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.

You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses.   • If there's a certain Southport destination you crave, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective.
