Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Southport vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Bald Head Island rental home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • First, have your group select date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Great family house! Great beach access and ocean views! Newly renovated! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. text the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
