Tricks and tips for getting the best Southport vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking the best Southport rental:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. The Historic Emerald Gem ~ Walk to Downtown Wilmington! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
