Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- In the Southport area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Book your Southport vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Lava Bungalow - Coastal Condo with Easy Access to Beach, Restaurants and Local S has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
